Patrick Credeur,
Executive Director
“To provide our water and wastewater utility
members with the highest quality of leadership, representation,
and support services.”
February
1, 2007
To
Whom It May Concern:
I know that LRWA has contacted you before requesting your
immediate assistance in writing letters to our federal
legislatures from time to time, never before have we been in such
urgency. As you may
or may not be aware, the majority of our programs are federally
funded; which means if we lose funding, we lose programs and you
lose our services beginning February 15, 2007.
We have been notified by National Rural Water DC office
that our programs will be cut out of the budget.
We need you to write your Legislatures in DC urging them to
write or call Stephen Johnson with the US EPA Headquarters to keep
the Environmental Programs Management appropriations in the Joint
Resolution to continue FY2007 funding.
We have compiled a sample letter for you to use for the
proper wording and it wouldn’t hurt for you to add some
additional information about how beneficial LRWA’s services have
been to you. We have
enclosed a sample letter for your representative to write to EPA
as well. Please take the time to re-type the enclosed letter(s)
and either; call, fax, mail or email your District’s
Representative as well as US EPA urging them to help out rural
water.
We
need to urge our Congressmen and Senators to persuade EPA to
continue funding by writing and calling the US EPA Headquarters;
after all, they do
work for you.
Enclosed
you will find a copy of the “sample” letter as well as the
contact information that is needed to contact your congressmen.
Again we appreciate your help in this matter and should you
have any questions, please contact our office.
We would appreciate a copy of any correspondence or
conversations you have with your Congressman regarding this
matter.
Sincerely,
Pat
Credeur and the Staff of LRWA
